Small Town Redevelopment
The City of Fosston is a community of approximately less than 1,600 residents located in northwestern Minnesota. The project location is situated at a corner of a very visible intersection in downtown Fosston. The property most recently supported two commercial buildings and remnants of a third commercial building that burned down in December 2013. The project illustrates all of the attributes of a successful brownfield project- particularly with respect to what it takes to redevelop properties in the downtown areas of smaller cities.. It required the participation of multiple organizations from both the public sector and private sector. It required the vision and long-term commitment from the City of Fosston and the private developer/prospective purchaser (Fosston Chiropractic Clinic).
